AIRC Team

The Applied Intelligence Research Centre has a diverse team.

Annika is a PhD student funded by the ADAPT Research Centre. Her area of expertise is Machine Learning – particularly Deep Learning in Computer Vision and Natural Language Generation. Her thesis focuses on Image Captioning techniques that provide automatically generated image descriptions with content that is more specific and tailored towards the end-user than typical state-of-the-art solutions. She is passionate about explainability and interpretability in the field of Machine Learning, and her research also explores the evaluation of automatically generated text from more than just a single aspect of quality. Annika's background is in Software Development as well as Lecturing and Programme Management of third level vocational education in Software Development. She has a Masters Degree in Digital Media from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden and an MSc Degree in Data Analytics from TU Dublin. Her plan is to continue working with research after completing her PhD degree.
