Alexey Tarasov has received his B.Sc. (2006) and M.Sc. (2009) degrees in computer science from the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (Riga, Latvia), where he made a research in the field of aviation engine diagnostics using machine learning methods. Just after receiving B.Sc. degree he started to work as an assistant lecturer in Transport and Telecommunication Institute, delivering six study courses in statistics and artificial intelligence.
Alexey also has experience in IT field—he had been employed as a programmer, an editor of the IT-newspaper and a technical trainer. He has been awarded with a number of technical certifications, for instance, Sun Certified Java Programmer and CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer+.
Since February 2010 Alexey is working on his Ph.D devoted to the automatic emotion recognition from speech under the supervision of Dr Sarah Jane Delany and Dr Brian Mac Namee.
