In Oct 2008 the Learning Teaching Technology centre and the School of
Computer Science successfully obtained funding from the National Digital
Research Centre for an 18 month research project in technology enhanced
learning. The aim of the project is to create an application for the
generation of learning objects for language acquisition and will build on
state of the art technologies in machine learning and computational
linguistics. The research will begin in June 2009 and the project will be
